Description

Our house is located on a sun-drenched cliff shelf with a wonderful view. From the veranda you can see the Ionian Sea to the south, the Pollini Mountains to the west and the town of Pisticci to the north. It is about 1.5 miles to the sea. The long white sandy beaches are often sparsely populated. Basilicata is one of Europe's few unexploited landscapes.
Casa Athena is a rustic country house that has been modernized but allowed to retain the old character and charm. The sleeping places are divided into 2 bedrooms with 2 beds in each and a sofa bed in the living room. There is also a loft above the living room.
There is a fully equipped kitchen with gas stove, electric oven, fridge/freezer, microwave etc.
Inside the house there is a bathroom with shower and toilet.
Outside, with entrance from the veranda, there is a laundry room with toilet and sink. Next to the veranda an outside shower.
If you are looking for peace and seclusion, nature and cultural experiences, this is the right place to be. Wineries, restaurants and cafes maintain high quality at low prices. The swimming beaches maintain the same high quality and are usually sparsely populated.

Road Description

From Pisticci follow Strada Vicinali San Donato south towards Tinchi and Marconia. After a few kilometers of slopes and sharp curves, turn left at a small chapel towards the football stadium.
After about 1 kilometer, when you see the stadium on the right, turn left at the intersection. Follow this small hilly and curvy road for about 5 kilometers. Among other things, you will pass the olive press Frantoio Panetta Donato & C. When you reach a Y-cross, keep right. Drive a few hundred meters to a fence on the right. One of our neighbors usually has the Casa Hera sign on the fence. Turn in and follow the fence until you see a path between the plantations on the right. Drive it for a few hundred meters. You pass, among other things, a neighboring farm on the left, turn 90 degrees right and drive 100 meters to another neighboring house. You have to round that house by turning down to the left and immediately up to the right on a grass path. You see a caravan on the left and then turn to the right where the neighboring house's fence ends. Then you are on our way down to Casa Athena. A good piece of advice is to walk down to the house the first time. After 100 meters the valley opens up for you....
